Forget Varadero and Its Turquoise Beach My Cuba Holidays Are Going to Be in Havana
Varadero is without any doubts the most popular, and, for many, the best holiday resort in Cuba.
Ever since the 1950s this breathtakingly beautiful beach resort has been the island’s most legendary and trendy hotspot for sunkissed beach holidays in Cuba at one of the country’s most stunning stretches of powdery soft white sands and shallow, crystalline turquoise waters. But in my opinion, and after being on many amazing Cuba holidays, nothing can beat Havana as the number one attraction and top holiday destination in Cuba.

In Havana you not only have a wider scope of places to visit and things to do, a greater range of activities and cultural as well as historical locations to admire and learn from, but you also have beautiful white-sand beaches at just a short 30 to 45-minute ride.
In short, you don’t have to feel you’re missing out on the beach if you plan Havana holidays, as this city’s long list of unique attributes also does includes beach relaxation and water sports at the famous Playas del Este (Havana’s Eastern Beaches) which are just one quick taxi ride away from the old and intriguing capital city.

You can choose from the beaches of Guanabo, Bacuranao, El Megano and Santa Maria del Mar, with the latter being one of the most popular among tourists, and many say, the best one.
The one in closest proximity to the city centre is Playa Santa Maria and out of all of them this is the only one that also has a hotel, so you can plan a night’s day if you want to stay on the beach a little longer?
